Dear Mr. President,
I'll make this short and quick. I'm one of the guys who stands up for you. I can't be accused of being one of those who has no backbone, as I've been writing in to my local paper for 8 years on behalf of my country, attempting to keep the press on real issues, doing my job as an American citizen, often acting in a very blunt manner.
Now we need you to do the same.
I've stood up for you for 4 years - in the face of Republican obstructionism, while you've been cool, intelligent, and above it all. But right now, the country needs you to fight. I need you to fight for me. You don't need to worry about your likability - we already like you. We know you're the adult in the room, Mr. President; and sometimes that means being forthright, forceful and decisive.
Do it for me. Do it for yourself. Do it for the people who need you and your administration to finish the jobs you set out to do from the beginning. It's time to make your peace.
The American people already know you. If you're aggressive on Tuesday night, people will understand why.
